Construction is underway! Below is a list of upcoming construction activities. The 30-day outlook serves as a guide for upcoming construction. Construction schedules can change due to weather and other circumstances. This page is updated once a month.

North Segment

 

May 2017

Denton

Construction

  • The I-35E TEXpress Lanes from Swisher Road in Denton County to the LBJ Express in Dallas are nearing completion and are scheduled to open later this spring. The two reversible lanes will span 18-miles and feature approximately 15 entrance and exit ramps.
  • The final surface paving for the north- and southbound mainlanes are underway and will continue through the end of the project this summer. There will be various nightly mainlane closures along the I-35E corridor through the summer for this work and motorists should be prepared for short term uneven pavement conditions.
  • The northbound I-35W ramp to northbound I-35E is scheduled to close nightly for approximately one week in May.
  • The northbound I-35E entrance ramp from North Texas Boulevard, the southbound exit ramp to North Texas Boulevard and the southbound entrance ramp from North Texas Boulevard are scheduled to open this summer.
  • The north- and southbound I-35E mainlanes at North Texas Boulevard are scheduled to shift into their permanent alignment this summer.
  • Additional lanes of the North Texas Boulevard bridge are now open and work on the span is scheduled to be completed this summer.
  • McCormick Street is closed between the north- and southbound frontage roads through summer for bridge construction. Traffic is free-flow on the frontage roads during this closure.
  • Work lengthening and widening the entrance and exit ramps between Fort Worth Drive and Teasley Lane continues. The permanent southbound exit ramp to Teasley Road and the permanent southbound exit ramp to Fort Worth Drive will open this spring.
  • The Post Oak Drive bridge is scheduled for completion this summer with two through lanes in each direction as well as two turn lanes in each direction. Work rebuilding the intersections on either side of the bridge is ongoing.
     

Corinth

Construction

  • Work on the new fencing along the pedestrian/bike path on the west side of the new Lewisville Lake bridge has begun. The path and the southbound frontage road lanes are scheduled for completion this summer. 

Middle Segment

Lewisville

Construction 

  • The I-35E TEXpress Lanes from Swisher Road in Denton County to the LBJ Express in Dallas are nearing completion and are scheduled to open later this spring. The two reversible lanes will span 18-miles and feature approximately 15 entrance and exit ramps.
  • The final surface paving for the north- and southbound mainlanes are underway and will continue through the end of the project this summer.   • The north- and southbound collector/distributor lanes between the Sam Rayburn Tollway and the President George Bush Turnpike are open.
  • The FM 407 intersection is expected to fully reopen this spring. Crews are finalizing the decorative paving and aesthetic work on the interchange.  
  • Work continues on the new Fox Avenue and Garden Ridge Boulevard bridges with additional lanes on both spans scheduled to be opened this summer.
  • The additional north- and southbound mainlanes, frontage road lanes and pedestrian/bike paths over the Lewisville Lake bridges are scheduled to open this summer.
     

Highland Village

Construction

  • The I-35E TEXpress Lanes from Swisher Road in Denton County to the LBJ Express in Dallas are nearing completion and are scheduled to open later this spring. The two reversible lanes will span 18-miles and feature approximately 15 entrance and exit ramps.
  • The final surface paving for the north- and southbound mainlanes are underway and will continue through the end of the project this summer.   • Work on Highland Village Road at the I-35E southbound frontage road is scheduled for completion this spring.
  • Construction of Copperas Branch Park and Highland Lakes Park are scheduled to begin this spring and continue through summer.
  • Work on the new fencing along the pedestrian/bike path on the west side of the new Lewisville Lake bridge has begun. The path and the southbound frontage road lanes are scheduled for completion this summer.
  • The north and southbound mainlanes between Garden Ridge Boulevard and Swisher Road are now in their permanent configuration over the original Lewisville Lake bridge. The additional northbound mainlane, frontage road lanes and pedestrian/bike paths are scheduled to open this summer.
  • Oak Drive/Lake Dallas Drive intersection is scheduled to open this summer.
     

Hickory Creek

Construction

  • The northbound I-35E mainlanes between the U-turn at Destiny Dallas RV Park and Post Oak Drive are scheduled to shift east onto permanent pavement late April. The northbound exit ramp to Post Oak Drive will reopen.
  • Work continues on the new Turbeville Road/Hundley Drive underpass and the new Oak/Lake Dallas Drive underpass. The additional lanes for each intersection are scheduled to open this summer.
  • The north and southbound mainlanes between Garden Ridge Boulevard and Swisher road are now in their permanent configuration over the original Lewisville Lake bridge. The additional northbound mainlane, frontage road lanes and pedestrian/bike path are scheduled to open this summer.
  • Work on the new fencing along the pedestrian/bike path on the west side of the new Lewisville Lake bridge has begun. The path and the southbound frontage road lanes are scheduled for completion this summer.
     

Lake Dallas

Construction

Farmers Branch

Construction

  • The I-35E TEXpress Lanes from Swisher Road in Denton County to the LBJ Express in Dallas are nearing completion and are scheduled to open later this spring. The two reversible lanes will span 18-miles and feature approximately 15 entrance and exit ramps.
  • The final surface paving for the north- and southbound mainlanes are underway and will continue through the end of the project this summer. There will be various nightly mainlane closures along the I-35E corridor through the summer for this work and motorists should be prepared for short term uneven pavement conditions. 
  • Bridge construction for the ramps that will connect the LBJ Express TEXpress Lanes to the 35Express TEXpress Lanes continues. Motorists should expect nightly closures of various north- and southbound mainlanes between Royal Lane and Interstate 635. 
  • Work on the westbound I-635 to northbound I-35E mainlane bridge and the southbound I-35E bridge to eastbound I-635 mainlane bridge will continue through May. 
  • The north- and southbound collector/distributor lanes between the Sam Rayburn Tollway and the President George Bush Turnpike are now open.

Carrollton

Construction

  • The I-35E TEXpress Lanes from Swisher Road in Denton County to the LBJ Express in Dallas are nearing completion and are scheduled to open later this spring. The two reversible lanes will span 18-miles and feature approximately 15 entrance and exit ramps.
  • The final surface paving for the north- and southbound mainlanes are underway and will continue through the end of the project this summer. There will be various nightly mainlane closures along the I-35E corridor through the summer for this work and motorists should be prepared for short term uneven pavement conditions.
  • Work on the new elevated Belt Line Road interchange will continue through summer. While this work is underway, motorists should expect overnight lane reductions and closures of the Belt Line Road intersection.
  • East- and westbound Belt Line Road traffic have shifted onto the new elevated intersection. Additional lanes of the Belt Line Road intersection are scheduled to open this summer.
  • Work on Broadway Street, south of Belt Line Road, will continue through summer. Old Downtown Carrollton traffic will use Main Street during this closure. 
  • The north- and southbound collector/distributor lanes between the Sam Rayburn Tollway and the President George Bush Turnpike are open.
